Today, I’m pleased to announce that I have decided upon the winners of the Black Mussolini Art Competition!
It definitely wasn’t easy. There were so many phenomenal entries; lots of creativity, lot of high artistic effort, and everything in between. To decide the winners, I ended up dividing the entries into different categories; the first being my close friends, who were not allowed to win the cash prize places (most all were told this before the competition was even announced), and the rest being the different general groups of quality/effort/creativity.

Do not be mistaken; ALL the entries were great in their own way. I was highly impressed with the great turnout we got, as I definitely wasn’t expecting as many phenomenally high effort entries as I got. But of course, I must make the hard decisions of who will this contest (otherwise it’s not a contest, of course!).
Enough of that introductory crap, let’s get down to business. “C’mon, just tell us who won the competition already!” you cry out in pain as you strike me. I look back at you and smile smugly, radiating an aura of wisdom and patience. “Calm down, young impatient one. There’s no need to stress. The victors of this battle will soon be acknowledged. Breathe in, and breathe out. Gather yourself as you prepare to experience the sheer beauty and hilarity of these fantastic submissions.”
You roll your eyes and sigh, like an obnoxious and spoiled teenage brat. “Uggggh dude shut the f*** up already nobody cares about your dumb monologue. Can you just get to the f***ing point? Who won the competition?” I decide to humor you, as I myself am growing weary of this stretched out introduction and would much rather be showing off the awesome entries to this competition.
The first class of entries are my close friends, who do not qualify for cash prizes. They are all given a Platinum Medal of Exemplary Participation. (It has a shiny ruby piece in the middle of it. Nice!)

Hedgewik’s commentary: As per usual, Stonetoss doesn’t miss. Marvelous entry.
Black Mussolini’s commentary: [absent, we have his mistress stand in for him]: “Oh, don’t-a worry about him. He-a just went to-a capture Greece, he’ll be back soon”.
Hedgewik’s commentary: I like it a lot! Yet another fantastic entry. Definitely not a joke I had expected to see, so above and beyond in the creativity department!

Hedgewik’s commentary: Fantastic entry. Good art from Sam as usual; the clothing folds and shading all come together very well, and the creativity of the piece is the cherry on top.

Hedgewik’s commentary: Very empowering for the Black man! Great detail, fantastic character posing. The gun being held sideways and the dark attire fits nicely.

Hedgewik’s commentary: Another highly creative entry I didn’t expect to see! I’d rather not over-explain the meaning of this piece to the viewer, but for reference, this is a pastiche of the famous “Scramble for Africa” cartoon.

Hedgewik’s commentary: This is honestly one of my favorite entries. I can tell an extremely high amount of effort was put into this piece, and it turned out fantastic. I was going to give this piece first place, however I realized since the artist is technically a comic artist in the broader Stonetoss-sphere, it wouldn’t be fair for me to rank it with the other art pieces. However, there is a still a smaller cash award available for the artist, and I am absolutely interested in commissioning them to do some cover art for the upcoming Black Mussolini: Origin Story comic series.

Hedgewik’s commentary: After much face-scrunching and eye-squinting as I struggled to choose a victor, this piece found itself victorious. I absolutely adore the aethsetic of it; the lighting and coloring, the posting, the shading; all of it just comes together as a perfect piece giving off a sense of bravery and strength by a strong African man. A great reference to his quote: “It is better to live one day as a lion than 100 years as a sheep.”

Hedgewik’s commentary: Beautiful, funny, witty, and creative. The graphic design, and the quip on the top, sold this piece to me.

Hedgewik’s commentary: Amazingly creative entry. The creativity is what carried this piece and helped me make my decision to give it this award. Even if it may not be as artistically impressive as some other entries which did not get the place, the imagination put into this greatly pleases me.
